Condition

Man: Original canvas. The surface is dirty and covered with a layer of slightly yellowed varnish. There is a small 3 cm tear near the man's head. There are fine lines of craquelure throughout. Under UV discoloured varnish fluoresces. Held in a wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame. Peasant Woman: Original canvas. The surface is dirty and covered wtih a layer of slightly yellowed varnish. There are fine lines of craquelure throughout. Under UV small spots of pigment fluoresce, including stretcher lines near the bottom. Held in a wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
