Condition

Original canvas. The paint surface has a light layer of dirt. There are minor frame abrasions around the edges, mainly to the lower edge and a light stretcher mark to the left side of the composition. There are two small spots of silver and gold pigment to the upper left and lower right corners, possibly rubbed off from the frame. There are lines of craquelure, mainly to the white in the upper right corner and in places elsewhere. UV light reveals a very thin line of infilling approximately 20cm in length to the middle of the sky, a number of further infilling to the sky mostly in the right section and a further small strip of old retouching to the left edge. Some pigments flouresce under UV. Held in a wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
