Description

  • View of Yalta
  • signed in Cyrillic and dated 1870 l.l.
  • oil on panel
  • 34.3 by 29.3cm, 13 1/2 by 11 1/2 in.

Condition

The panel appears sound. There are light frame abrasions around the inner frame edges. The varnish has been cleaned unevenly. There is a small area of damage above the ship closest to the harbour. There are two lines of retouching to the middle right. There are curved vertical lines of craquelure to the lower right section of the canvas. UV light reveals no apparent retouching; however an uneven layer of varnish prevents further investigation. Held in a gold painted wooden frame with mouldings. Unexamined out of frame.
