Description
- porcelain
- 7.6cm., 3in. high
each modelled facing to the left or right and standing with one foreleg raised, their fur in tones of brown, both animals with short tree-stump supports on oval mound bases applied with flowers, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue (some restoration to lioness)

Condition
Lioness- restoration to both ears, to tongue and fangs and to raised front leg. Minor restoration and chips to applied leaves and flowers.
Lion- minor nick to edge of left ear. Minor chips to applied flowers and leaves.

The Brühl inventory (1753) lists '2 kleine Loewen und 1 noch kleinerer Loewe' [2 small lions and 1 even smaller lion]. A similar pair is illustrated by Kunze-Köllensperger (1999), no. 83.
