The complete portfolio, comprising 12 lithographs and title page, with poetry by Frank O'Hara, 1957-60, each signed in pencil by the artist and poet and numbered IX, also inscribed on the colophon, from the edition of 25, on Douglas Howell handmade paper, with the publisher's blindstamp, ULAE, contained in the original paper inner folder handmade from blue denim and linen cuttings, signed and dedicated in blue paint by the artist, lacking the outer folder and wooden box; WITH Heroic Sculpture, lithograph, 1958, signed in pencil by the artist and poet, intended for Stones but not included in the published edition (14 prints)

Condition

The prints are in good condition, the sheets full. Very minor imperfections in individual plates are: the deckle at right of Plate 4 has pale discoloration and is folded under. Plate 5 has a small, round area of discoloration in the image at right. The right sheet edge of Plates 7 and 8 also have pale discoloration. Plates 1, 3, 9 and 11 with pale off-printing verso. The folder discolored at the side folds and with a narrow band of discoloration across the cover. Heroic Sculpture with occasional soft handling creases, a short diagonal crease at upper right sheet edge.
