Condition
Overall good condition consistent with a working proof. The left sheet discolored with surface soiling, minor water damage and tearing at the join between the two sheets. The right sheet with a one inch paper loss at bottom edge, surface soiling and an inconspicuous scratch in the center of the image.

Catalogue Note
This working proof differs from the published lithograph most notably in that it shows the artist experimenting with a more complete rendering of the hair. Additional differences from the final composition include the outlines of the face and hair at top, the elimination of one of the figures at lower left and the use of larger paper.
