Condition
The picture is slightly darker in tone but less yellow in the fleshtnes than the catalogue illustration would suggest. The canvas has been relined and the paint surface appears to be in good overall conditon, however the pigments are thin in places overall as a result of the lining. There is a thick discoloured varnish and surface dirt overall. Examination under ultraviolet reveals some evidence of minor scattered cosmetic retouchings in the face but the varnish impedes further inspectin. Offered in an intricate gilt wood and plaster frame with a dark wood slip.
