A cloisonné enamel 'gu' Qing Dynasty, 19th century

together with a  cloisonné enamel 'dragon' vase, Qing Dynasty, 19th century (31cm. high; 1ft.¼in.) and a cloisonné enamel double gourd vase, 20th century (31cm. high, 1ft.¼in.)

The gu vase is in general good condition, the enamels are in good order apart from minor losses and refill. There is discolouration to the enamels down the bottom of the interior rim; there are wax deposits on the surface of the enamels above this. The base is sealed with fabric and not inspected. The gilt-bronze is slightly rubbed. The cloisonné dragon vase has an area of impact to the foot, with associated enamel loss measuring 2.2x0.3cm and 1.5x0.5cm respectively, and another area of loss above it. There are extensive enamel loss and refill on the body mainly on the black ground, including two areas on the neck (1.8x1.7cm and 0.5x0.8cm) and another area on the body (2.5x2cm). The handled garlic-mouth vase is in very good condition with the exception of minor wax refill to the enamels, such as that on the stems, leaves and petals. The yellow flower and the purple flower each have an area of loss (0.5x0.5cm). There are further losses near the bottom of the vase. The handles of the vase have extensive areas of refill to the enamels, and are possibly reinforced with metal pins. The gilding is gently rubbed.
