Description

together with a cloisonné enamel double gourd vase, late Ming Dynasty (15cm. high; 5¾in.) and a Japanese cloisonné tray, 19th century (approximately 12cm. x 8cm.; 4¾in. 3in.)

Condition

The pair of dishes has considerable areas of wax refill, particularly along the rims to both the interior and exterior. There are minor flakes and areas of loss. One dish has an area of impact to the rim with associated losses/cracks. One dish has an Eskenazi, Milan label to the base. The double gourd vase has areas of depression to the lower bulb, with extensive associated refill particularly near the bottom. There are further areas of loss and refill to the enamels. The enamels have characteristic pinprick holes and minor cracks. The actual colour is of a slightly warmer tone compared to the catalogue illustration. The Japanese cloisonné tray has considerable hairline cracks to the turquoise ground. There are areas of enamel loss, such as the eye of one bird (0.1x0.1cm) and one of the floral buds to the lower-mid section of the interior (0.7x0.2cm). There are some dents to the turquoise ground.
