Catalogue Note

Comparative Literature:
M. De Grassi, Francesco Chiarottini 1748-1796, Mariano del Friuli 1996.

Although usually known for his frescoes, these sophisticated creations allude to some of the compositions in oil on glass by  Francesco Chiarottini (Cividale of Friuli 1748-1796) depicting landscapes and capricci. A pair of reverse paintings on glass recently appeared for sale at Wannenes, Genoa, from  the the Villa Romana Di Goffredo Manfredi and were compared to the work of Francesco Chiarottini.
