Description

  • strawwork frames 32cm. high, 27cm. wide; 1ft.½in., 10½in.
with flowers, foliage and birds, enclosing religious engravings, the reverse of both with an ink inscribed label Marchese, together with a mahogany rectangular frame (32.5cm. x 22cm.), a burr walnut circular frame, modern (9.5cm. diameter) a circular carved walnut frame with foliage (15cm. diameter), a giltwood rectangular frame the back with printed label Galleria d'arte, Casa di Vendita Piazza di Spagna 93, Roma (27.5cm. x 20cm.) and an Italian carved walnut, parcel-gilt and painted glass frame, late 18th century, carved with fruit and grotesques (26cm. x 20cm.)

Condition

In overall good condition. Strawwork frames have some very minor chips and losses to the strawwork which are hardly noticeable. Circular walnut frame with foliage: hairline construction crack at top and another filled one at the bottom. The Italian walnut and gilt frame carved with groteques is late 19th and not late 18th century.
