Description

  • 89cm. high, 150.5cm. wide; 2ft. 11in., 4ft. 11¼in.
the frieze with a band of scrolling foliage centred by a grotesque mask flanked by panels carved with lunettes and acanthus, the headers carved with a stylised scallopshell and acanthus, on square tapering legs headed by Ionic capitals on toupie feet joined by shaped stretchers

Condition

In overall very good conserved condition. The colour of the gilding is less green more golden and attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Old very minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age and normal useage which are hardly noticeable.Very minor rubbing to the gilding in places especially along the moulded edge of the frieze as visible on p. 27. Hairline construction cracks at joints which are normal and do not detract from the piece and can be left. The granite top has some very miniscule chips which are hardly noticeable and the the top is in very good condition. There is a very small chip to the base of the granite finial but this is hardly noticeable. There is a printed paper label with the letter `C' on the wooden support beneath the top.
