Description

  • Brett Weston
  • BAY CITY STEAMBOAT
  • gelatin silver print
mounted, signed and dated in pencil on the reverse, 1939

Provenance

Acquired from Erica Weston, the photographer’s daughter

Condition

This early print, on a thin off-white mount, is in generally excellent condition. In raking light, faint silvering at the edges and occasional tiny deposits of original retouching are visible. The mount is lightly soiled. On the reverse, the following annotations are written in an unidentified hand in pencil: '22-0199'; 'BUC/035'; '33'; and 'ERW-023.' When examined under ultraviolet light, this print does not appear to fluoresce.
