Condition

These prints are in generally good to excellent condition. The front and reverse of the mounts are lightly soiled. 'Nude (237 N)' - Visible in raking light is a small, soft impression in the lower right portion of the image. Also on the reverse, '237N' and 'Nude, 1936' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil. 'Nude (231 N)' - In raking light, scattered linear and pen-point-sized impressions and deposits of original retouching are visible. On the reverse, '231 N' and 'Nude, 1936' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil. 'Nude (232 N)' - Upon close examination, a very tiny loss of emulsion in the center portion of the image is visible. A few tiny impressions are visible in raking light. On the reverse, '232 N' and 'Nude, 1936' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil. 'Nude (233 N)' - There is foxing on the front and reverse of the mount, and in raking light, foxing is visible on the image. The print is lifting slightly from the mount at the lower left corner. This print is not trimmed to the image as is customary, and there are thin black contact print margins. On the reverse, the following annotations are written in pencil by Cole Weston: 'NEGATIVE BY EDWARD WESTON / PRINT BY COLE WESTON'; 'This print was made at the Appalachian Photographic Workshop, as a demonstration on 10/1/1986'; 'C.W.'; '233 N'; and 'Nude, 1936.' Also on the reverse are three pieces of linen tape along the upper edge and adhesive and brown-paper residue at the lower edge.
