Condition

These photographs are in generally very good condition. Visible in raking light on several prints are silvering, occasional faint impressions, and small deposits of retouching. There is minor soiling on the reverse of some of the mounts. The plates are as follows: Breaking Wave, Golden Gate, San Francisco, 1952 - On the reverse of the mount, '5724 / album' is annotated somewhat illegibly in pencil. Log and Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, 1952 View of San Francisco in the Rain, 1952 - The periphery of the image is slightly darkened. Woman with Umbrella, San Francisco, 1955 - There are two small areas in the upper and lower portions of the image that are slightly matte. Sunset District and Pacific Ocean, San Francisco, 1951 - There is minor edge wear and tiny chipping along the upper edge. Figures in the Rain, San Francisco, 1955 - In raking light, faint scratches are visible in the left portion of the image. There is a slightly raised area in the center of the print, likely a particle trapped between the print and the mount during dry-mounting. Worker, Saratoga, California, 1958 Grape Picker, Berryessa Valley, California, 1956 - There is a small, thin scratch near the lower right edge of the image and a tiny loss of emulsion in the lower left corner of the image. Oak Tree and Rock, Black Hawk Ranch, California, 1954 Cowboy, Arizona, 1957 Landscape, Jackson, California, 1948 - There is a tiny, barely-perceptible loss of emulsion in the lower left corner of the image. Garden Detail, San Francisco, 1947 - On the reverse of the mount, '5724 / album' is annotated somewhat illegibly in pencil. The linen clamshell box is in generally excellent condition, with some minor wear to the edges and a light scratch on the bottom. The front matter has some minor handling creases.
