Condition

The ten photographs, each on double-weight paper with a surface sheen, are in generally excellent condition. The stamp on the reverse of each print is as follows: '© Dennis Stock / Not For Reproduction.' In raking light, scattered small scratches and impressions, occasionally accompanied by some losses of emulsion, are visible on many of the prints. A few prints also have deposits of original retouching. (James Dean in Bed) - This print has a slightly yellowed area on the reverse. (James Dean Reading a Book) - This print has a few pink deposits of indeterminate nature in the margin and on the reverse. The maroon clamshell box is in generally excellent condition, without wear to the edges or the spine. There are some grey deposits on the bottom of the clamshell box. There are two copies of the introduction by Stock and chronology by Swenson; one is editioned '9/125,' and one is not editioned.
