Condition

This slightly warm-toned early print, on double-weight paper with a semi-glossy surface, is in generally excellent condition. There is a small rectangular area of stray exposure in the right margin. When examined in raking light, 2 tiny impressions are visible. The reverse of the print is lightly soiled, with age-darkening at the edges. The photographer's print date stamp reads 'Printed 1960s.'

Catalogue Note

Charlotte Gordon was the Art Director of Seventeen magazine in the late 1950s and early 1960s.  Among the small group of photographers and artists she worked with closely were Andy Warhol, Garry Winogrand, Lee Friedlander, and Bob Blechman.  Gordon and her husband Harry formed a close friendship with Friedlander and his wife, Maria.
