Condition

As is typical of the photographer's early Paris images, this print is on sturdy, double-weight carte-postale stock with a faint surface sheen. With its subtly shifting tones, this print offers up a great deal of detail and depth. It is essentially in excellent condition. A few expertly applied deposits of original retouching are visible, primarily in the sitter's hair. In raking light, a fine patina of silvering is visible in the dark areas, as are a few fingerprints from handling. There is some minor soiling and peripheral wear on the margin edges that do not affect the image.
