Condition

From the series Song of One Hand Clapping (1957) - This photograph, mounted to green illustration board, is in generally excellent condition. It is annotated 'Song of One Hand #1' by Dorothy Norman in pencil and stamped 'From the Collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Printed by Minor White in 1970 for his exhibition "Minor White: The Circle, The Square, The Triangle"' on the mount. In raking light, a ΒΌ-inch hairline scratch is barely visible in the lower left quadrant. On the reverse of the mount, '1980-98-133' and '18x22' are written in an unidentified hand in pencil. There are 2 linen tape hinge remnants along the lower edge on the reverse. Scissor and Thread, Navajo Indian Reservation (1960) - This photograph, on double-weight semi-glossy Agfa paper that is hinged to a mount, is in generally excellent condition. It is stamped 'From the Collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Printed by Minor White in 1970 for his exhibition "Minor White: The Circle, The Square, The Triangle"' on the mount. In raking light, a tiny deposit, likely original retouching, is visible in the upper left quadrant. The print is trimmed to the image and there is minor edge wear. On the reverse of the print, 'Down,' with directional arrow, is written in an unidentified hand in pencil. Also on the reverse, '1980-98-169' is written and crossed out in pencil. Below the stamp on the mount, '1980-98-169' is written and crossed out in pencil. The reverse of the mount is hinged in each corner to a modern mat. What Died Here, Lobos State Park, California (1959) - This photograph, on double-weight semi-glossy Agfa paper that is hinged to a mount, is in generally good to very good condition. It is stamped 'From the Collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Printed by Minor White in 1970 for his exhibition "Minor White: The Circle, The Square, The Triangle"' on the mount. Near the left edge, a 3-inch linear crease that breaks the emulsion is visible in raking light. The print is trimmed to the image and there are 2 tiny losses of emulsion along the right edge. On the reverse of the print, '1980-98-166' is written and crossed out in pencil. Below the stamp on the mount, '1980-98-166' is written and crossed out in pencil. The reverse of the mount is hinged in each corner to a modern mat.
