Condition

This group of 5 photographs, including 3 platinum prints and 2 gelatin silver prints, is in generally very good condition. The photographs are on double-weight paper, with either a surface sheen or matte surface. Scattered deposits of original retouching and faint silvering are visible upon close examination on some of the prints. The edges are rubbed, with minor chipping, and there are occasional signs of handling and creasing. The mounts and mats are soiled. Full cataloguing for each photograph is below. 'The Potter's of Santa Clara' - platinum print, copyrighted in pencil on the image, matted, signed and dated in pencil on the mat, the photographer's 'A Photograph by Laura Gilpin, Santa Fe, New Mexico' studio label, with typed title, date, and medium, on the reverse, framed, 1929 -There is a 1/2-inch irregularly-shaped tear in the upper portion of the image and rust-colored discoloration in the central area. On the reverse of the print, yellowed adhesive residue suggests that this print was originally affixed to a mount. 'Juanita Pena and Rose' - gelatin silver print, mounted, the photographer's 'A Photograph by Laura Gilpin, Santa Fe, New Mexico' studio label, with typed title and date, on the reverse, signed and dated in pencil on the window mat, framed, 1937 -The upper portion and lower right corner of the print have separated from the mount, resulting in a slight rippling of the print. 'Potters of San Ildefonso' - platinum print, mounted, the photographer's 'A Photograph by Laura Gilpin, Santa Fe, New Mexico' studio label, with typed title and date, on the reverse, signed and dated in pencil on the window mat, framed, 1925 'The House of the Cliff Dweller Mesa Verde National Park' - gelatin silver print, copyrighted in pencil on the image, the photographer's 'Colorado Springs, Colo.' copyright stamp and annoated 'copyright' in pencil, on the reverse, mounted, signed in penil on the mount, the photographer's 'A: Photograph / By: Laura Gilpin' studio label, with typed title, print number '4,' and 'copyright.,' on the reverse, framed, 1925 -The print is separated from the mount except along the upper edge.
