These striking heliogravures are in generally good condition, except where noted below. 'Cléomède - Posidonius - Hercule' - The following is in letterpress on the mount: 'Photographie Lunaire'; 'PL. LI'; 'Grand Equatorial Coudé'; 'Observatoire de Paris'; '1900 Septembre 10, 12h 9 t.m. Paris'; 'Agrandissement 14, 6 fois'; and 'Diamètre Lunaire 2m, 59.' The margin edges are appropriately age-darkened. The margin corners are rounded and creased. There are small losses and tears (the largest measuring 2-and-1/2-inches) along the upper, lower, and left edges. A small piece of clear tape is affixed along the left margin edge near a tear. Light soiling and a few small rust-colored deposits are visible in the margins and on the reverse. 'Bouillaud - Ptolémée - Copernic' - The following is in letterpress on the mount: 'Photographie Lunaire'; 'PL. IX'; 'Grand Equatorial Coudé'; 'Observatoire de Paris'; '1896 23 Février 6h, 5 t.m. Paris'; 'Agrandissement 9.25 fois'; and 'Diamètre Lunaire 1m, 64.' The margin edges are age-appropriately darkened. Graphite rubbing and soiling is visible in the margins and on the reverse. There is a strip of linen running along the left margin edge, indicating that this plate was previously bound.
