Description

  • André Kertész
  • 'WASHINGTON SQ.'
  • Gelatin silver print
signed, titled, and dated in pencil on the reverse, framed, a Grapestake Gallery, San Francisco, label on the reverse, 1954, printed later (Of Paris and New York, p. 255)

Condition

This photograph is in generally excellent condition. In high raking light, a small scratch that does not appear to break the emulsion is barely visible in the lower right quadrant. The lower right margin corner is creased. Kertesz numbered or dated the reverse of the print indistinctly in pencil. Also on the reverse, 'AK 30' is written in an unidentified hand in pencil. There is a tiny rust-colored deposit on the reverse of the print.
