Canvas is unlined. there is excellent preservation of the paint surface with lovely detail throughout. a pentiment of a chair back can be seen at left side where artist made an alteration and decided to paint a stool rather than a chair (this is slightly visible in catalogue photograph). examination under ultraviolet shows some retouching along edges of painting. there are some small, scattered retouches mostly in the background and some in the form of inpainting of craquelure. one or two small retouches to legs of stool. figure looks quite good. Offered in a gilt wood frame with some nicks.
