Etching with drypoint, 1639, the very scarce first state (of two) of almost unobtainable rarity, before the cap band was finished, a fine impression with burr on the hand and at left on the wall, on paper with part of a Strasbourg Lily watermark

Condition

Trimmed just within the platemark, upper edge and blank area near signature skillfully restored, a horizontal line of repair in the blank area extending through the hat (with touches of pen and ink), other touches of ink on the cuff and stones at right, other minor repairs, remains of a pencil inscription at lower left corner, unframed.
