Engraving, circa 1460-70, a good impression, on paper with part of a Circle watermark

Condition

With a thread margin at left, trimmed on or just within the platemark elsewhere, repairs mainly at the corners with touches of pen and ink, short horizontal repaired tears at left (the longest measuring 7mm), a soft central horizontal fold (mainly visible verso), a few very pale stains, other minor defects, unframed.

Catalogue Note

The composition is adapted from a print, formerly in Dresden, by the engraver of the so-called 'Vienna Passion' (Hind A.I.35). According to Hind, this is certainly Tuscan but may well be a later Sienese adaptation of the Florentine prototype.
