Condition
Window mounted. Lower left corner has been repaired. Very light foxing towards the right margin, in the center. A few small light brown stains at the upper margin. Overall the condition is very good with colors remaining fresh and image stong. Sold in a modern gilt wood frame.

Catalogue Note
As Schnackenburg has noted, the same house is shown, from a slightly different viewpoint, in a watercolor in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford (Schnackenburg, op. cit., no. F 206). On the basis of the figure types, he attributes both watercolors to Dusart rather than Ostade.
