Condition

Window mounted .Top corners cut . The paper quite soiled lower left , various thin areas at the top.

Catalogue Note

A drawing by Giulio of a lion, in a similar pose but facing the other direction, was in the Ellesmere sale.1  Frederick Hartt connected that study with a group of drawings of animals and birds which he considered related to designs for silverware and datable circa 1524-26, after Giulio's arrival in Mantua.
