- An apostle, probably Saint Matthew, with an angel

Condition
The catalogue illustration is representative. The canvas has a relining from circa 40 years ago and the dirty paint surface is secured by a thick yellowed varnish. To the naked eye the painting appears partly in quite condition and partly abraded and retouched. The areas of repaint in colude the right side of the saint's face, the book lower left, the left shoulder and the hand. In better condition are the blue and red mantles and the left side of the saint's face. Overall in mediocre condition. Offered in a modern painted gold frame in good condition with only minor knocks.
