Condition
The canvas has a somewhat loose relining. Overall the painting is in good condition and the paint surface is secure. There are some old losses along the left margin and a line of horizontal damage under the Virgins chin as visible in the catalogue illustration. There is an old dirty varnish which impedes thorough inspection under UV light although scattered minor retouchings do fluoresce. Offered in a carved gilt wood and plaster frame in fair condition.
