Condition

The canvas has been fairly recently relined. The paint surface is in satisfactory condition, if a little pressed. There is a restored damage on the piece of paper and a cluster of small restorations down the right hand margin. There is a small restored damage beneath the sitter's right eye and some small retouchings to the rest of his face and hand.
