Description

  • The Pseudo-Guardi
  • Two still lifes with roses, tulips, viburnums, sunflower, poppies and other flowers in a vase
  • a pair, both oil on canvas

Condition

Both canvases have stiff relinings which are loose on the stretcher and are rather ineffective. There is an old vertical damage breaking the paint surface of approx. 5 cm. in the upper centre of the latter as visible in the catalogue illustration. Both paint surfaces are otherwise secure and in fairly good condition in the still life areas under a somewhat yellowed, glossy varnish. Inspection under UV light is somewhat impeded by the aforementioned varnish but old retouchings and areas of repaint are visible in the backgrounds and vases of both paintings. The still life details in both appear to be largely untouched. Offered unframed.
