Description

  • Giacinto Diana
  • The apotheosis of the heroes of antiquity
  • oil on canvas, shaped top

Provenance

Private collection, France.

Condition

The painting is slightly cooler in tone than the catalogue illustration. The canvas has been recently cleaned, relined and restored, and appears to the naked eye to be in good condition. As evidenced by the catalogue illustration, the upper sides were cut in the past and have since been made up. The paint surface is in very good condition and the impasto is still fresh. Inspection under UV light reveals only very minor strengthenings. This painting is offered in a modern carved wooden frame in 18th century style, which is in excellent condition.
