Condition
The catalogue illustration is representative. The signed canvas has an old relining that is still effective and has not flattened the paint surface which is dirty, but secure under the discoloured varnish. The canvas appears in good condition and would respond well to cleaning. The blue of the Virgins skirt appears to have discoloured, but due to the yellowed varnish this cannot be verified at this stage. Inspection under UV light confirms the good condition since only very minor retouchings fluoresce.
This painting is offered in an old carved wooden frame with old inactive worm holes, but the frame is structurally sound.
