Condition
Tha pianitngs are warmer in tone and lighter in colour than the catalogue illustration suggests. These luminous vedute have all been quite recently relined and cleaned. To the naked eye they appear in very good condition, with a vibrant paint surface. UV light shows very minor retouchings and one small area of restoration. Offered in carved wooden painted frames in good condiiton. Ready to hang.

Catalogue Note
This artist takes his name from the series of thirteen views of Venice by his hand in the Langmatt Foundation, Zurich.1
Three of this group of four vedute show views corresponding with works in the Langmatt Foundation, with variations in foreground detail and the time of day depicted.2 The fourth composition is closely related to a work sold in these Rooms, 7 July 2010, lot 107, measuring a larger 66 by 97.3 cm.
