Description
- Still life of grapes, plums, a pineapple and a peach, with a butterfly
- signed and dated lower right: NiB 1820.
- oil on canvas, unlined
Condition
The picture is lighter in tone and less acidic in colour than the catalogue illustration would suggest. The canvas in unlined. The paint surface is in good overall cndition with no apparent damage or loss of paint except for retouching to some very very minor frame abrasion at the canvas edge centre right and also there is some retocuing to the plums. Examination under ultraviolet confrims the aforementioned retocuing and reveals some further retouching to the canvas edges and to an old imprint left by the top most stretcher bar. Otherwise the picture is in very good condition with little to no intevention in the fruit. Offered in a carved gilt wood and plaster frame in good overall condition.
