Attributed to Sebastiaen Vrancx

The catalogue illustration is too red and too dark. The panel is uncradled and has a very slight convex bow. There are traces of old but now inactive worm and a small recent loss on the bottom edge. The painting has recentyl been cleaned and restored and is in good overall condition. The varnish flouresces under ultra violet light, but only scattered local retouchings and repairs, with some strengthening to the darks, is apparent. The house and tress on the far bank of the river have been repainted. The varnish remains clear and the picture should not require further attention. Offered in a later gilt wood frame in good condition.
