Description
- A wooded landscape with a river, hunters and their dog, a man in the distance crossing a bridge
- oil on panel, in a tortoiseshell frame
Condition
The catalogue illustration is too dark and too red in tone. The panel consists of two planks, uncradled and with a slight convex bow. There is a small (6 cm) split in the lower right hand corner, 11 cms from the bottom edge. The painting has recently been cleaned and restored and is in good overall condition. The paint surface is generally very well preserved. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals only scattered local retouchings and some strengthening of the darks.
Offered with a faux tortoiseshell and ebonised wood frame in good condition.
