The catalogue illustration is a good representation of the painting. However, contrary to the catalogue entry, the painting is not signed. The paint surface is in good overall condition, with no apparent damage or loss of paint, but the panel is slightly exposed where the paint surface ends along top and bottom leftmost edges, due to slightly large sized frame. There is evidence of varnish and surface dirt and the painting could benefit from a light surface clean. Overall the panel appears to be in remarkably good condition. Inspection under Ultraviolet light confirms the mottled green varnish and reveals very minor flecks of retouching, and an old retouching in the sky centre right. Otherwise there has been little intervention and the paint is in good condition. This panel is offered in a contemporary French 18th Century gilt wood and plaster frame surmounted by a double sway and bow.
