Condition
The catalogue illustration is representative of the painting, which is in very good condition. The board is flat and maintains a stable and even support for the picture and the paint surface is in good condition with no apparent extant damage or loss of paint. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals no apparent signs of restoration or retouching. The painting is held in a gilded wood frame with a silvered inner edge.

Catalogue Note
When this picture was offered for sale in 1984 the opinion of Ramond Lister and Joan Linnell-Burton was that it was painted by John Linnell and Samuel Palmer in the late 1820's, at Shoreham.
