- A Winter Landscape with figures skating on a frozen river
- signed lower right: k.molenaer
- oil on canvas
Provenance
Von Bolin sale, Munich, 14 December 1934, lot 326 (RKD library Mount);
Private collection, Holland.
Private collection, Holland.
Condition
The painting is cooler in tone and less acidic in colour than the catalogue illustration would suggest. The signed canvas has been relined and the paint surface appears to be in very good overall condition, if a little thin in places. There is no apparent damage or loss of paint visible to the naked eye. Examination under Ultraviolet reveals very minor scattered cosmetic retouching throughout the sky. There is an older minor campaign of retouching to an earlier stretcher bar mark along the upper edge. Overall the canvas appears to be in good condition and the principle parts appear to be untouched. Offered in a black Dutch-style frame in very good overall condition.
