Condition
Laid down on paper. There is evidence of some foxing throughout the sheet and abrasions to the lower and upper left corners and centre. There is some minor surface dirt and the sheet has been bleached somewhat. The medium is still relatively fresh throughout.

Catalogue Note
The present drawing appears to have been preparatory for Lemonnier's painting Les Adieux d'Ulysse et Penelope a Icarius now in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Rouen, and executed by the artist in 1806.
Sold together with a further 17 drawings and 1 print, various sizes and techniques, some bearing inscriptions such as: gd père and album de / mon grand père and many stamped with the collectors' marks of the artist's son, André Hippolyte Lemonnier (L.1330a and L.4157) and grandson, Henry Lemonnier (L.4158).
