Catalogue Note
Lorenzo Cenami (1584-1628) was a member of one of the most influential patrician families of Lucca. He played a role in public affairs, as well as in the family business, but eventually went to serve King Charles IV of Spain, becoming governor of Calabria. His struggle to impose reforms there wore him out and the king proposed moving him to Otranto, but he died before assuming that responsibility
