Condition

Oil on canvas, lined. The original edge is visible along the top edge in the current framing. Minor frame abrasion at the right, left and lower edges. Small dent below the leftmost figure's feet with accompanying loss. A few small specks of white house paint in the lower left corner. Another small loss in the flower bouquet at lower center. Arcing scratch with minor associated loss approximately 8 inches long above the heads of the vestal virgins. Stable web of fine craquelure. Dirty yellowed varnish. Under UV light, thick green fluorescing varnish. Small areas of fluorescence, potentially to address abrasion, in the stairs at right.
