Condition

Areas of slight abrasion are apparent in the green foliage at left and middle bottom. The craquelure in the sky is pronounced but stable. Only two tiny retouches are visible at upper left and right. The picture is virtually untouched by repairs and is in lovely condition. In a carved gilt wood frame.

Catalogue Note

Blandine Lesage supports the attribution to Michallon, based on photographs and first hand inspection, and dates the picture to early in the artist's career, circa 1813.1 The landscape depicts the Saint Cloud/Suresnes, an area to the West of Paris.
