Condition
Oil on canvas, relined. The picture surface is somewhat flattened but clean. Frame abrasions along the left edge. Under UV light, old inpaints are visible scattered in the sitter's face, neck, left hand and wrist, and in the folds of her dress.

Catalogue Note
We are grateful to Dr. Leon Krempel for endorsing the attribution to Maes, on the basis of a photograph. He dates the painting most probably to the artist's last period, circa 1687-1693.
