Condition

Oil on canvas with a lovely old lining. Three small, old patches on the verso. Surface in generally good condition. Fine craquelure overall with some evidence of minor cupping. Some slight evidence of abrasion from cleanings. Proper left eye with obvious restoration. An old unevenly discolored varnish. Under UV light, small areas of inpainting visible in the sitter's forehead and nose. Selectively cleaned with an older generation of faint reprint under the green fluorescing varnish.
