Catalogue Note

Donated by Jaeger-LeCoultre.

When Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the Memovox Deep Sea in 1959, this diving watch created a senseation, its impact enhanced by the fact that it was the first diving watch ever equipped with an alarm. Not only could divers tell time as they descended into the deep, but the Memovox (for "voice of memory") reminded them to return to the surface. Approximately 1,000 copies of this watch were made until 1962, and now Jaeger-LeCoultre has reissued this stainless steel, luminescent classic. Three copies of the watch, whose design remains faithful to the original to the nearest millimetre, have been customised with a unique red dial and the (RED) logo engraved on the back of the watch: number one of this special edition is offered exclusively in this auction, while Jony and Marc own numbers two and three.
