Catalogue Note

"My experience is that when I'm in the work, once I start, the terror goes and then one thing leads to another. I am lead into the work and afterwards, it's as if I wasn't there. I think that is the most wonderful experience and probably why I go back time after time to make art. Because it's an ultimate being - of being out of oneself, truly out of myself." - Jules Olitski
