Catalogue Note
This is a good tall copy of Handel's celebrated ode to Saint Cecilia, in its original binding. Alexander's Feast was one of the few large choral works by Handel to be published by Walsh during the composer's lifetime. Pages 168-193 contain the Cantata "Cecilia volgi un sguardo verso il s[u]olo britanno" [HWV 89] and "An Additionall Song", both with Italian words. The subscription list contains 125 names, but there is no blank after page 166. The portrait by Houbraken is not called for in this edition.
