Catalogue Note

Trebnik troikh is an important work in that it was the first Futurist anthology to contain exclusively poetry. The poems have long fascinated scholars who have tried to distinguish, in Khlebnikov’s distinct and linguistically creative work, complete poems from unfinished fragments. Mayakovksy uses compound rhyme for the first time, later to become his trademark in his works full of urban images and Cubist style, and the Burliuk brothers’ verse is of exceptional quality.
